Mark and the team at 8 West managed my mom’s apartment for the last 8 years. This is a 100-year-old property in Banker’s Hill, so it needed frequent attention. The 8 West team has been awesome! They responded immediately to every issue, found cost effective and quality solutions, and kept my mom and her tenants happy. Whenever there was turnover (very low) they were able to find quality tenants and lease the unit very quickly. HORRIBLE COMPANY! :-( I recently filed complaints with the CSLB, DRE, and Attorney General's offices, which are currently being reviewed. A CSLB Supervisor called me yesterday and we spoke for over an hour and 10 minutes about various issues. He said although what 8West is doing may not be illegal, what they are doing is highly unethical, and certainly not professional, or acceptable in the industry. Terrible experience since the take over of our complex. Random fees have been coming left right and center with no ability to counter them. Responsive, yet useless.

Mark from 8 West is dedicated to helping condo communities. I was on the board of our condo for 3 years and during my time on the board Mark went above and beyond to direct and rectify a variety of deferred maintenance items, such as the conversion to LED lighting in stairwells and storage room, our oversight of large projects, such as elevator modernization and roof replacement. As both an HOA member and later a Board member, my experience with 8 West was consistently negative. Property manager responses were routinely delayed, and I personally experienced unprofessional behavior, including being yelled at and falsely accused. This pattern worsened when I joined the Board. The manager maintained communication with the previous board, creating information asymmetry and exacerbating community issues. 8 West's abrupt contract termination was followed by charges for years of undocumented "miscellaneous fees." I think most management companies are bad, but this one is HORRIBLE! When I first bought the condo, I set up to pay my HOA dues via BillPay via BofA. I just went to the website and had checks mailed to the office address. Well, no one told me that they were to be sent to a different address and made out to something other than 8 West. The checks JUST SAT THERE. Started to be charged INTEREST! Notified Mark about this and he refused to reverse the late fees and interest charges! They don't want paper checks. Mark knows HOA’s inside and out. My HOA hired 8West after years of mediocre at best management service. As President I was closely involved with Mark during the transition period. He is a good guy and a very knowledgeable manager. If your HOA is searching for new management look no further.

8 West is my HOA management company. My complex previously used another big corporate company and we recently switched to 8 West. They are amazing with communication and getting things done around our complex. Their online system is easy to use, and when I have needed to talk to someone about a maintenance issue they actually pick up their phone. I just had to write this review because I know it's hard to find a good manager as our board interviewed many companies before choosing 8 West.
