The place I stay is convenient and in a good location, but the management lacks communication skills when it comes to informing residents about ongoing activities or construction work. There were frequent heavy drilling noises around the building, making it impossible to rest comfortably. Because of this poor communication and constant disturbance, I cannot recommend this place.😡😡😡

The Blacherne's apartments are extremely quiet, full of character, and spacious. The building was constructed in the 1800s and has been appropriately updated over time; however, the original integrity of the building remains intact. When I say the apartments are quiet, I mean I have never heard my neighbors through any shared wall. My bedroom even borders the shared laundry room (free, by the way), and when people are doing laundry at midnight, the only way I’ve been able to tell is if I happen to see them—I have never heard the machines from my apartment. I lived here for 2 years and my girlfriend lived here for 3 years. Before I say anything I want to say Layla, Kimberly and all of the other managers in the leasing office were amazing. I have nothing but good things to say about the employees in the building given the hand they have been dealt. They are the only reason I’m giving two stars and not one. The building is in constant disrepair. The freight elevator / garage elevator is almost never in service and when it’s “repaired” it’ll be in working condition for 48 hours at best. My previous review was removed so I’m leaving this review again. I stayed here from 2018-2023. The last property manager (heavy set woman) before I moved out was very rude and acted like she did not want to be there. However, Isabell and Hannah were always pleasant and professional . I never had issues living here as far as crime and it was perfect when I worked downtown because it was within walking distance of my job and had grocery stores, a library, and entertainment nearby. I've been here a week and was so excited to move in but the elevator has been down the entire time. The elevator was supposed to be up and running "in a few hours" and I was assured it's not a common occurrence but as a new resident, I have no idea if that's true. Climbing up 5 flights of stairs while trying to set up my apartment has been such a hassle. I've already twisted my foot once climbing the stairs while carrying up a few boxes. I already regret signing the lease.
