I am a condo owner of a building managed by MKI. In particular, the account team of David Richman and Cindy Chan is divine. As a resident, when David joined I saw an immediate shift. The speed of responsiveness, professionalism, and knowledge increases exponentially under their leadership. I am thankful for their care and attention.

This is, without question, the most frustrating and disappointing experience I have ever had with a building management company. My family and I are shareholders in a cooperative building managed by this company. As owners, we expected professionalism, responsiveness, and a genuine commitment to resident safety and quality of life. Unfortunately, our experience has been the exact opposite. I don't know where to start. But I would suggest any co-op board in the city who is in the market for a building manager to RUN, not walk, away from Maxwell Kates. I could go on and on about the mismanagement - the constant turnover of property managers assigned to our building since they started, the complete lack of bedside manner when they make enormous errors, etc. but I would be writing far too much here. They do not even have the basic technology to automate sublet fees and after several years, they claim their calculations have been off and suddenly want to hit me with an enormous bill…

Good partners to help manage a challenging building in a challenging market!

A few weeks ago, I decided that I had to make my way to your head office.  My only intent was to confront an employee and to simply ask her, why the back and forth?why the delay in communication? Why did she fail to submit my paperwork to the board in a timely manner, causing me to have to resubmit my paper work mutiple times?   Instead I met a Mr. Marks, who listened to me, he expressed genuine concern and even apologized for my treatment and experience from the employee. Absolute nightmare of a management company that will ignore your requests, emails, complaints, etc but always find time to relay threats and (often unfounded) complaints of their own. It took them 2 months to get back to me about renting one of our many vacant basement storage units, and 8 days to respond to an urgent situation involving carbon monoxide, whereupon they placed the blame on me because 'it is likely my windows were left open' (they were not). Over the past few years, she’s reliably overseen lease and purchase applications for the residential building where I serve on the board and own. I sit on the Board of my co-op and was involved in the selection of MK as our new property management company after an extensive review process. Joan Konow, our property manager, impressed from the first meeting. She has extensive knowledge of the complexities of managing a building, working with building staff and vendors, navigating city regulations, delicately working with tenants and shareholders. I have been personally working with Joe Magid of Maxwell Kates at one of his properties for the past couple of years and have had nothing but a great experience. Joe is always responsive and super knowledgeable particularly on the mechanical systems of the building. Would highly recommend for management needs.

It's been a pleasure working with MK management over the years. The team of Managers, especially Joe Magid, John Hackett and Ashley Brun have been extremely professional in my experience. The communication and coordination has always been first rate. In a city where the management companies have been become institutionalized, having a more responsive and personal team is very nice to work with.

Avery Feldman at Maxwell Kates has been a great partner overseeing our building on the Upper East Side! He is very responsive, knowledgeable and a pleasure to work with.

Whom to blame? Your agent ‘promised’ me years ago ‘the masonry will be restored in ‘the spring’. Many years later, was purportedly restored. [Apparently not!] but NOT the south wall! My interior is tumbling. thirty ? Years ago, our bedroom was plastered and has held up. The other work , this spring is apparently a failure; its mess remains. Oh, by the way… the east elevator is a sad mess. ‘Lipstick’ would restore it….. The lobby, apparently worked on 5 years ago, was truly a vanity project.

I was having a problem accomplishing a clerical accounting change. My commercial bank failed to provide support or help. So I called my building’s Managing Agent and left a voice message. Bogi Zabicki immediately called back, listened to me attentively, and advised a precise course or action, which led to my expeditiously solving the problem. She did so with intelligence, patience and great efficiency. Thank you, Bogi!

I have been working with Dania Hamad for the last few weeks. I have to say, after working with dozens of managing agents for buildings, Dania has gone above and beyond. She is truly a treasure and Maxwell-Kates is lucky to have her!!!

Terrible. Rude staff (particularly Ingrid) made a bunch of mistakes when they had to reimburse me for a move-out deposit.

We recently moved into a building managed by Maxwell-Kates, and our experience has been outstanding. Our managing agent, Adriana Bernard, has been exceptional—her prompt responsiveness, professionalism, and genuinely warm demeanor make every interaction seamless and enjoyable.

Unfortunately, my experience with Maxwell Kates has been extremely disappointing. My property manager, Larry, has consistently dismissed my concerns, while his supervisor, Andy, has offered excuses rather than meaningful solutions. The hallways on my floor frequently smell strongly of cat litter. As someone with a cat allergy, this odor significantly affects my ability to breathe comfortably in my own living environment. on Oct 14th 20025, I had notified maintenance of a leak in my bathroom at my apt 392 Maryland Ave, Staten Island,N.Y. Unforuntley, Maxwell-Kates has a history of employing sub-par workers in the maintenance dept. Not only couldn’t the super handle a severe leak, after expressing my concerns. It took Maxwell-Kates 12 day to inspect the problem. this person is Maria who sit on the board of chateau villa. she had been beyond difficult to resolve the major leak. Working with Ronit Samouha was fantastic. She helped us with our move to our new apartment. We were in a rush to schedule our move-in date and she was great handling it for us. Very sweet person, responsive on emails, professional and easy going.

Joan our property manager is fantastic

Our building on Bryant Park has been going through substantial upgrades over the last few years. More recently we had a major façade repair that without the oversight of our property manager at Maxwell Kates, Joan Konow, I am sure that this large endeavor would not have been completed as timely and as successful. She stayed on top of all the parties and helped negotiate through any problem. This was above and beyond her excellent servicing of the co-op’s regular needs. As a long time resident and board member, I just wanted to say how lucky we are to have Joan as a member of our team.

Horrible management company. DO NOT HIRE. Rent has gone up exponentially yet the quality has declined. Jamie Towers has consistently been without heat and hot water for months especially during the extreme cold. There are rodents and roaches in the lobby and laundry room. The washers and dryers are constantly broken. Maxwell Kate does not care about it’s tenants.

Avoid hiring them at all costs. I first notified management 5 weeks ago about the pipes inside my walls banging around the clock morning, noon and night. I have since continued to reach out to Maxwell-Kates daily to assist with finding a solution to the problem. It has been extremely hard to get in touch with them and the few times they have responded they have been of no assistance. It’s now over 3 months since I’ve moved out of a building they are managing. First it took 11 weeks for them to let me know I had to provide proof of a deposit. Then they sent the wrong amount, which I had to wait another 10 days. I previously asked for a receipt of check sent so that I can know exactly the amount returning. Because I knew something like this will happen, but those emails were ignored obviously. I’ve just read other reviews and I see multiple people having issues with MKI, I see this is in their nature. Agent seems biased. Our complaints for over one year, re upstairs stomping and furniture scraping on bare wood floors seem ignored.

Our building was managed for decades by MKI. Or rather, it was supposed to be managed. Since January, we are with a new agency. What a world of difference! And now we're discovering what years of neglect have done to the building. But I am confident we will dig ourselves out of it eventually...
